REVAMP provides the opportunity for a variety of training experiences.   The FAS Training Programme, which has FETAC certification includes the following modules for participants:

  • furniture restoration and repairs, including carpentry;
  • furniture polishing
  • painting
  • laying wooden floors
  • literacy
  • numeracy
  • introduction to I.T.
  • work place orientation, followed by a work experience element

The training has been developed since 2002 in response to the changing needs of our participants.  Initially, the duration of the training programme was 26 weeks, but now has been extended to 48 weeks.  Since 2002, xx4 participants have completed the programme, and xx are now in employment.  The number of participants has increased from 12 to 16 for current intakes.
Through the training programme, REVAMP aims to raise the skills, self-esteem, aspirations and achievements of the pariticipants through high quality training within a professional, caring, communicative environment.
Training is offered to 16+ year olds, with no upper age limit, to both male and females.  To date, the majority of partipicants on training programmes have been young unemployed males, mainly from the travelling community.   There are opportunities to start onto the training programmes throughout the year, with places for 14-16 participants at any time.
Our dedicated training team consists of part-time woodwork and tiling trainers, with a full-time upholstery tutor.  Other support comes from the EDI Centre, to develop the numeracy, literacy and IT skills of participants.  Members of staff actively take on the roles of mentor and guide to participants, to help them develop their self-esteem and personal skills.
